PSY460 Intro to Addictive Disorders

Course Description
An overview of the nature of addictive disorders, including the various theories regarding etiology, development and psychopathology of such disorders. Also covers the etiology, diagnosis, assessment and treatment of compulsive gambling and nicotine addiction.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:- Discuss the different psychological theories related to the etiology and psychopathology of addictive disorders.
- Discuss the influence of multi-cultural factors on the development of addictive disorders.
- Demonstrate understanding of the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of nicotine addiction.
- Demonstrate understanding of the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of nicotine addiction.
- Demonstrate understanding of the various drug classifications and pharmacological actions.
