Course Description

This course will provide broad perspective on theory, technique and practice of digital evidence investigation. Different types of digital related crime, including fraud, stalking, identity theft, and internet related crimes. Chain of custody and current legal issues on digital evidence.

Learning Outcomes

  • Develop a realistic and broader perspective of theories, techniques, and practices that apply to electronic crime scene investigation.
  • Develop the technical skills required to become an effective electronic sleuth, with an emphasis on provide well documented basis for a criminal investigation.
  • Describe methods of electronic crime scene investigation.
  • Describe the investigator's role in court.
