Course Description

An in-depth analysis of the writings of a major figure in the history of philosophical thought. The particular emphasis will be determined by the instructor in the context of the specific thinker chosen.

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the philosophical ideas, theories, and works of the philosopher studied.
  • Describe the degree to which the philosopher achieved specified philosophical goals.
  • Explain the importance of the philosopher studied to the historical development of philosophy.
  • Relate the ideas and particular philosophical perspective of the philosopher studied to the student's own life.
