Course Description

An introduction to the principals and application behind effective interpersonal communication. Students will study various styles of interpersonal communication, apply different techniques, and evaluate their effectiveness. Important components of interpersonal communication that include listening, conflict management, and developing and maintaining relationships, will be addressed in the personal and professional setting.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the importance of effective interpersonal communication.
  • Differentiate between effective and non-effective interpersonal communication.
  • Identify the different factors that impact interpersonal communication (age, gender, culture, setting, etc.).
  • Apply best practices for effective interpersonal communication Modify the communicative approach to fit the location Alter the communicative behavior to fit the individual.
