National University Celebrates its Sapphire Anniversary in November

In 1971, Dr. David Chigos, an executive from General Dynamics, founded National University to support the academic aspirations of an emerging population of adult learners by tailoring a flexible format that accommodated the needs of working professionals. Dr. Chigos opened National University with a single campus in San Diego, and while the University began with only 27 students that first year, it has grown to be among one of the largest private nonprofit universities in California.

Philanthropist Malin Burnham Received 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award

Malin Burnham, one of San Diego’s most renowned philanthropists and business leaders, and the author of recently-published book “Community Before Self,” received the 2016 Humanitarian of the Year Award, presented by the Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at National University. This award is granted to a person with a demonstrated commitment to giving back to others and to the community through philanthropy for the betterment of our society and humanity.

Dr. Jamie Manburg Named Director of Sanford Inspire at National University

Longtime educational leader, Dr. Jamie Manburg, has been appointed director of Sanford Inspire at National University, a PK-12 education initiative that empowers educators around the country to create inspiring classroom experiences. National University, which has one of the top ten largest schools of education in the country, is leading the national expansion of the program, which is named after and based on the vision of philanthropist, T. Denny Sanford.

San Diego Veterans Leadership Summit Nov. 4 Supports Advancement of Veteran-Owned Businesses

Recognizing a need to support the successful transition of veterans into the civilian workforce, the San Diego Veterans Leadership Summit Nov. 4 at National University will offer veterans and members of the military community the chance to network and learn from industry experts on enhancing their business leadership skills.
