November 5, 2007 - Johnson Middle School history teacher Gregory McFall (CRED, 1998) was named today as one of five California Teachers of the Year.  McFall, a 10-year veteran at Johnson, was chosen as one of five Orange County Teachers of the Year in May. November 5, 2007 - Lewis Chappelear (CRED, 2001), who teaches engineering design at James Monroe High School in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley , was one of five educators named  as a 2008 California Teacher of the Year. He was also chosen out of the five by state schools chief Jack O'Connell  to represent California in the National Teacher of the Year competition. September 6, 2007 - Jeanette Providence (M.Ed. 2002), who teaches English at Grant Union High School in Sacramento, has been named Sacramento County Teacher of the Year. Click here to read more about her in the Sacramento Bee.

June 11, 2007 - The San Mateo Union High School District Board of Trustees on Thursday appointed Katya Villalobos as the new principal of Capuchino High School.  She holds degrees from UCLA, Notre Dame de Namur University and National University. To read more, click here.

January 18, 2007 - Principal Mikara Solomon Davis (TIER II CRED, 2006) helped turn the Los Angeles-area Bunche Elementary, one of California's lowest-performing schools, into one of the state's best. National Public Radio talks with Solomon Davis about her plan that boosted test scores among Bunche's low-income, mostly black and Latino students, and how she has taught them to aim for academic excellence. November 20, 2006 - Garth Phoebus (BS, Domestic Security Management, 2006) has been named emergency management planner at the Office of Emergency Management for Frederick County in Maryland. He is featured in a article in the Federick News-Post.

September 2006 -  Sondra Taylor (BA, Behavioral Science, 1997/MA, Counseling Psychology, 1999) runs Mustang Connection, a non-profit organization in Stockton, California that pairs at-risk high school students with rescued mustangs. Taylor's five horses are making a positive influence on dozens of students at a critical juncture in their lives.  Her program was featured in San Joaquin Magazine.

June 12, 2006 - Frank Pastore (BBA, 1989), a former Major League Baseball player who is now the afternoon host for 99.5 KKLA-FM in Los Angeles, appeared as a guest on Focus on the Family, a nationally-syndicated Christian radio program hosted by Dr. James Dobson. For more information, click here.

June 11, 2006 - Donald Balfour (Master of Science, Educational Administration, 1987) has been named assistant superintendent of educational services and human resources at Castaic Union School District, according to an article in the L.A. Daily News.

June 10, 2006 - Robert Grebel (Master of Arts, Educational Technology, 2002), a math teacher at Duarte High School near Pasadena, California, has been named the 2006 Duarte Unified School District Teacher of the Year, according to an article in the Pasadena Star News.

June 8, 2006 -  The Rev. Landon Schkade (MA, Business Administration, 1974) has worked to grow congregations and improve community outreach for more than 20 years, according to an article in the Boston Herald. Rev. Schkade, who until recently served as the director of ministry and discipleship with the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots, is currently pastor at the Trinity Lutheran Church in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.

June 7, 2006 - Elizabeth Keller, (MS, Educational Administration, 2005)  formerly an assistant principal at the Creative, Performing and Media Arts Middle School in San Diego, has been named principal at Shoal Creek Elementary School in the Poway Unified School District, according to an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune. June 7, 2006 - Lety Villa-Gascon (MS, Educational Administration, 2002) was appointed as Rancho Milpitas Middle School's new principal, starting in the 2006-07 school year, according to an article in the Milpitas Post. She is the school's interim principal and, from August 2003 to March 2006, she was the school's assistant principal.

April 3, 2006 - Fullerton Union High School teacher Sal Tinajero (MS, Education 2006) has been named Hispanic Magazine's Teacher of the Year.
