NEW BS PROGRAM OFFERED IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
Curricula is designed to meet ACCE accreditation criteria
The School of Engineering and Technology is offering a NEW Bachelor of Science in Construction Management program designed to meet the accreditation requirements of the American Council on Construction Education (ACCE), the leading national agency for promoting, supporting, and accrediting quality construction education programs.
The new program is an expanded version of the existing Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering Technology program, for which ABET accreditation is being sought, and requires additional construction, management, business and accounting courses. Both ACCE and ABET accreditation are lengthy and comprehensive processes that require several years to achieve.
The Construction Management program is currently available on site in San Diego, beginning in October, 2006, and the Construction Engineering Technology program is available online beginning January 2007.
"We will be offering some exciting curricula with two distinct advantages over competing universities," said Associate Professor Thomas Gatton, Ph.D., lead faculty for the BS in Construction Engineering Technology program. "First there is the accelerated pace, which translates to less than two years start-to-finish for transferring students and, second, we have a great group of instructors teaching these courses who are industry experts and bring real world knowledge into the classroom."
