SOET Hosts 4th Annual International Computer Science Conference

The School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) hosted the 4th annual International Conference on Computer Science and its Applications (ICCSA), and the 2nd International Advanced Database Conference (IADC), June 27-29 at National University's Spectrum academic center in Kearny Mesa.

SOET sponsored these events in association with U.S. Education Service, AnalyzeSoft, Inc., the Association of Scientists, Engineers and Technologists, the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP), and the San Diego Supercomputer Center, UCSD.

Dr. Pradip Peter Dey, professor of computer science and communications technology at National University, served as the program chair for ICCSA, and Dr. Mohammad Amin, associate professor of engineering, served as the program chair for IADC.

The special theme of this year's conference was TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION. Also offered was a special track on bioinformatics and biomedical engineering.

ICCSA and IADC bring together researchers and practitioners from industry, academia and governments across the globe to advance the state of the art in computer science, software engineering and technology through technical sessions, professional development courses and seminars, and vendor exhibits. They also encourage wider collaboration between academics and industry.

"Authors of papers presented at the conference came from 31 countries this year," said SOET Dean Howard Evans, Ph.D. "Every continent was represented at the conference save Antarctica. More than 200 people attended. It was our most successful conference yet," Dean Evans added.
