Jenny Fixman (M.Ed.1999) writes educational songs for children. She has published eight CD-book sets through her own company, Edutunes. Samples of her lyrics and music are available at www.edutunes.com.
Evangeline Bitsko (CRED, 1997) is the education program manager for San Diego Junior Theatre, the oldest continuing children's theatre program in the country. She coordinates the organization's camp programs, supervises its Chula Vista satellite location, teaches classes for students ages 6-18, and directs productions. Ms. Bitsko is currently directing Madeline's Christmas, due to open in December 2006.
Bridget Kudrle (M.Ed./Cred, 2005) is an art teacher at Oscar de la Hoya Animo Charter High School, a Green Dot Public School. She engages students from the communities of East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights with three extracurricular clubs--The Graffiti Club, After-school Arts, and The Saturday Mural Project. Green Dot Public Schools, a 501c3 non-profit organization,is a leading operator of public schools in Los Angeles.
Jeremiah Jacks (M.Ed., 2005) teaches instrumental and general music to grades K-8. He has recently been asked to assume responsibilities as vice president of the American River chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association (AOSA), an organization that promotes music education. Caryn Mears (MS, Instructional Leadership, 1992) is an elementary school music teacher for the Kennewick School District in Kennewick, Washington. She teaches beginning orchestra four mornings a week and on the 5th morning, she leads a 12-member Marimba Band. She also heads a group of 4th and 5th graders who sing in the school chorus.
Anthony Llorens (M.Ed. 2004) teaches choral music at Manual Arts High School. The former pianist for Stevie Ray Vaughn, also wrote the score for the 2005 film titled Heaven's Fall, starring Timothy Hutton and David Strathairn.
Kassie Halpin Robinson (CRED., 1998) is an English and math teacher at Thomas Edison High School in Portland, Oregon - the state's only private high school specifically designed to meet the needs of students with complex learning disabilities and attention deficit disorder issues. She also teaches an elective class called "Nonsense Art" where students partake in painting, carving, jewelry making & sewing.
Devin Collins (CRED, 2003) is a 7th grade Language Arts teacher who performs during the summer with San Diego's Starlight Musical Theatre. In the past four years, he has performed in Fiddler on the Roof, Damn Yankees, Sweeney Todd, Oliver, The Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Silvia Scott (M.Ed., 2005), an English teacher at Charles R. Drew Middle School in Los Angeles, recently won an Editor's Choice Award from The National Library of Poetry for a poem titled, Who or What Shall I Compare you to?
Rita M. Van Hoosear (CRED, 2005) is currently teaching art at Perris, California-based Choice 2000 Online high school, one of California's first WASC accredited public online grade schools. Choice 2000 serves students in Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial and Orange Counties.
Lorin Wilson (M.S. Ed. Admin., 2006) currently serves as a band and choir teacher at a middle school in Redwood City, and runs a jazz band and advanced choir after school as a volunteer. Mr. Wilson was formerly principal trumpet with the Santa Cruz County Symphony.
Barbara Alvarado (MS, Special Ed., 1997), a special education teacher, is on the booster board for the band program at Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley. She is currently coordinating a district wide Festival of the Arts and street market as a fundraiser for the program. It is scheduled for February of 2007.
Rebecca Cherkoss (M.Ed., 2006) works for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a roaming Theatre Arts teacher. She is also a DJ (AKA dj salty), who spins at private parties and clubs throughout Los Angeles.
