Mark Triplett named VP at Surewest Communications
Mark Triplett (MBA, 1988) has been promoted to the position of vice president of sales for the telecommunications holding company SureWest Communications. Mark most recently served as executive director of sales for SureWest and led the recent sales reorganization of all company sales teams to improve operating efficiencies within the company. Prior to joining the company, Triplett was the vice president of the federal government division and vice president of business development for Vitria Technology, a software and services firm in the telecommunications industry. Triplett also served as chief operating officer and vice president of sales and marketing of AI Metrix, Inc., an integrated voice, and video and data network software and services company.
Maryam Davodi Far is CEO of Cancer Coping Center
Maryam Davodi Far (MCHA 1998) is serving as executive director/CEO of the Cancer Coping Center, a non-profit agency in San Diego that provides a coping mechanism for cancer patients through visual arts. She previously served as chief executive officer for a community clinic in San Diego. Her professional experiences include providing leadership in managing diverse programs and services, collaborating with other nonprofit and for profit agencies, community organizations, businesses and private citizens.
Steve Kennedy named Principal of Menifee Elementary School
Steve Kennedy (Master of Education, 1993) has been named principal of Menifee Elementary School, just north of Temecula in Riverside County. Previously, Steve spent seven years as principal of Bonsall Elementary and worked as a teacher and principal at schools in the Chula Vista elementary and Cajon Valley Union school districts in San Diego County. Kennedy is fluent in Spanish, which is a major asset in his new job. Latino students account for almost 60 percent of the enrollment at Menifee Elementary School.
Michelle Steever profiled in San Jose Mercury News
Michelle Steever (CRED 1996), a teacher at Herbert Hoover Middle School in San Jose, was profiled in the September 1, 2005 edition of the San Jose Mercury News. "We joke about some people getting a sports car for their midlife crisis; I became a teacher," she said. "It's exciting in a whole different way and no speeding tickets!" Michelle teaches science, algebra and robotics to students in grades six through eight. She follows in the footsteps of her mother, who is also a teacher.
Christophre Neilson assigned for Duty with CHP
Christophre Lee Neilson (BS 2003) has successfully completed cadet training for the California Highway Patrol and has been assigned for duty the CHP's San Francisco area office. Christophre graduated with a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration/information technology management from National University before joining the CHP.
Larry Murphy named CFO at Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co.
Accredited Home Lenders Holding Co. has hired Larry Murphy (MBA, 1979) as its new CIO. Larry was a private consultant in the financial services and technology sector in San Diego before joining Accredited. Previously, he was executive vice president of strategic planning for CoorsTek, a ceramics manufacturer based in Golden, Colorado. He has also served as pacific region banking director for Accenture; chief of operations and technology at Union Bank of California; and as president and CEO of Security Pacific Information Services, a division of Security Pacific Corp, which has since merged into Bank of America.
Jack Klimp appointed president of GAMA
Jack W. Klimp (MPA 1980) has been appointed the new president of the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association, the national trade association representing manufacturers of appliances, components and related products used in space and water heating, commercial food service and power generation. In 2001, Jack retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a lieutenant general after a 33-year career. His final command was as deputy commandant, manpower and reserve affairs. Immediately following the Marine Corps, he served as senior vice president and director of operations for the New York Region of Phoenix House Foundation.
