National University to Host Education Walk

November 4

National University is hosting California Dollars for Scholars 2006 Walk for Education in San Diego, November 4 at its academic and administrative headquarters in La Jolla.  Alumni are encouraged to participate in this fun-filled and worthy event.

California Dollars for Scholars is a program of Scholarship America, the nation's largest nonprofit, private sector scholarship and educational support organization.  The national program was founded by Dr. Irving Fradkin in 1958. Through its Dollars for Scholars program, Scholarship America partners with more than 1,700 communities, corporations, colleges and universities across the country to help students with the desire and drive to continue their education beyond high school. Each walk follows a 5-kilometer course.

This is the fourth year in which the event has raised scholarship money for deserving California students.  In San Diego, Dollars for Scholars awarded $181,000 to 250 students last year among 15 different chapters.

National University alumni can contribute to scholarships in San Diego by making a commitment to walk for education and bringing the money they raise for their chapter or for California Dollars for Scholars to the walk on November 4. Participants are encouraged to donate $20 and solicit similar donations from family, friends and other sponsors.

Registration for the Nov. 4 event begins at 9 a.m. at National University's academic headquarters, 11255 North Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, CA 92037. The walk starts at 10 a.m.  To get there take Interstate 5 to the Genesee off-ramp, turn west, and stay in the middle lane. Genesee becomes North Torrey Pines Road. Proceed past the Torrey Pines Golf Course. National University is on the right, across from the driving range.
