33 Alumni and Students Earn National Board Certification

Students and alumni constitute 11 percent of new NBCTs in California

Twenty-six National University alumni and seven National University student have been identified among the 298 California teachers who achieved National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) in 2005.

The new National Board Certified Teachers were announced on November 29.  National University alumni and students constitute 11 percent of the statewide total.

National Board Certification is a voluntary process, requiring a rigorous performance-based assessment that can take from one to three years to complete. Once achieved, it is considered a mark of teaching excellence.  This year's California recipients include National University alumni from 17 school districts.
