Women's Business Center Sponsors Investment Seminars

The Women's Business Center of California (WBCC) is sponsoring five investment seminars over the course of the next few weeks to assist small business owners who are ready or planning to expand their businesses. The seminars are as follows:

Part 1:  Foundations of Investing – This class covers the reasons for financial and investment planning, assessing your financial situation, clarifying and setting financial goals and a discussion of the 10 most common investment risks.  Day 1 will also cover loan investments such as money market accounts, CD's, savings bonds, tax-free and government bonds. Tuesday, April 4th, 2006, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Part 2:  Stocks and Equities – This class will explore how one picks investments that offer the best hope for long-term performance.  The session will discuss the difference between fast growing companies versus more mature companies.
Tuesday, April 11, 2006, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Part 3: Mutual Funds – This class will discuss how to pick a good mutual fund company, how to decide between load and no-load funds and dollar cost averaging.  Day 3 will explore the philosophy of investing where you combine your money with other's who have the same investment objectives. Tuesday, April 25th, 2006, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Part 4: Tax Advantaged Investments – This session will address the questions: Should you pay taxes on your investment returns now or later?  What are the advantages and disadvantages of owning tax-deferred investments such as annuities, IRA's and more? 
Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Part 5: Risk Management/Wrap-Up – This class will cover how to properly prepare for unexpected risks and how disability, life and long term care insurance can protect investors and their dependents from the events that can threaten financial independence.
Tuesday, May 9th, 2006, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

All WBCC classes will be held at the National University Spectrum Center, 9388 Lightwave Ave.,
San Diego, CA. 92123.  WBCC is part of National University and is funded by a five-year, $150,000-per-year SBA grant. National University is the fiscal agent and major sponsor for the WBCC. To register, click here.
