Alumnus Named Chief of Escondido Police Department

Capt. Maher is a 25-year veteran of the department

Escondido Police Department Captain Jim Maher (BBA, 1990) has been promoted to Chief of Police, effective this coming July.  Capt. Maher will succeed outgoing Escondido Police Department Chief Duane White, who is retiring after 34 years.

Capt. Maher has served the Escondido Police Department for 25 years. He currently oversees the services bureau that handles communication, records and crime lab and analysis. 

Capt. Maher joins two other alumni who are police chiefs in San Diego County. They are:

Thomas Zoll (BPA, 1986) Chief of Police, Carlsbad
