April 25 Awards Dinner Attracting High-Profile Alumni
Tables and Seats Are Still Available, But Going Fast
Maryam Davodi-Farr (Master of Health Care Administration, 1998) will be featured in Vision magazine this year as one of "35 Alumni to Watch in 2006." She is one of numerous high-profile alumni who will be attending National University's 2006 Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines on Tuesday, April 25.
Dr. Farr is founder and Executive Director/CEO of the Cancer Coping Center, a non-profit agency in San Diego that utilizes the visual arts to help cancer patients through the healing process.
"As an executive director, a big part of my job is to be meeting new and potential donors, volunteers and board members," she said. That is one of the reasons why she is looking forward to attending the Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner.
"It gives me exposure to others who are in the decision making positions and positions of leadership, not just within National University, but within San Diego in general," she added. "It is also important for me to be seen by colleagues in the field as being present and supportive of their success and continued endeavors."
Others included among the "35 Alumni to Watch in 2006" who will be attending the April 25 event include:
Kathleen Alexander (MS Computer Science, 2004/MS Technology Management, 2005), who
was recently nominated for a corporate leadership award from Lockheed Martin Corporation.
Brent Wilsey (BBA, 1983 / MBA, 1986), host of The Smart Investing Show, airing Saturday mornings on KFMB AM760 radio in San Diego. Mr. Wilsey' weekly column appears in the San Diego Daily Transcript and he is also the Local 8 Financial Advisor on KFMB Channel 8 News.
The Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., amid an impressive sunset view of the Torrey Pines Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean. Dinner follows at 7 p.m. and an awards ceremony at 8 p.m. This year's six honorees are:
