iLink Technology Expands Availability of Business Classes Throughout the State
VoIP technology replaces text-based chat sessions; benefits smaller groups of students
A year ago, the use of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology iLinc was first implemented by the School of Business and Management for teaching courses in the Masters in Public Administration program.
The use of iLinc made it possible for a small group of students in Sacramento to complete their program by joining a larger group in San Diego. Since then, iLinc has been used in dozens of similar distance education classes, providing small groups of students in NU's academic centers with access to many of the School's degree programs that would not otherwise be available to them.
Starting with an online accounting course in July, 2005, iLinc has also been used for an even greater number of online classes each month, replacing text-based chat sessions with live two-way voice and visual interaction.
