Special Agent Leonard Hatton
1956-2001
“Leonard was a true hero and he was not assigned to the World Trade Center on 9/11. He was there to assist on his own. While thousands of persons were escaping the area, Leonard went into the chaos to help his fellow New Yorkers, Americans, and humans from all races and nationalities. I respect him greatly.
There is a page on the FBI website honoring Leonard, my friend. Unfortunately, this is where I first found out that he had been killed. I was devastated and it took the wind out of my sails for a month or more. I am still at a loss why such good people are taken from us so soon. He and I were so enthused about being FBI agents and working with our forensic degrees in a job that we loved. As NU students we charted our futures and we both got the golden opportunity to work with the most respected law enforcement agency in the world.
I keep a print-out of this web page in a frame and prominently displayed as a tribute to Leonard in my private investigation agency offices. I look up to his picture daily and thank him for his sacrifice.” – Dr. George Walker Sr., Class of 1981
