Professor Serves as Visiting Scholar at Bowling Green

Brian Simpson, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the department of management and marketing in National University’s School of Buisness and Management (SOBM), served as a visiting scholar at Bowling Green State University in Ohio during the fall 2008 semester.

The funded position allowed Dr. Simpson to complete significant research on his next book, tentatively titled Money, Banking, and the Business Cycle. The book will explore the Austrian theory of the business cycle, defend criticisms of that theory, and reveal why alternative theories of the business cycle do not provide good explanations of the cycle.

Dr. Simpson’s previous book, Markets Don't Fail!, was published by Lexington Books in 2005. It offers a scholarly yet accessible discussion of fundamental economics issues ranging from capitalism, socialism, and the mixed economy, to monopoly, antitrust laws and predatory pricing, "externalities", economic inequality, public goods, and asymmetric information.
