International Business Class Travels to Brazil

Juan España, Ph.D., lead faculty for international business in the National University School of Business and Management (SOBM), hosted a contingent of students on a 12-day journey to Brazil in April as part of an international business course.

The course, “International Experience,” counts as an elective for the MBA, EMBA, Master of Arts in Management, Master of Arts in Human Resource Management, Master of Public Administration and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership programs at National University. It also counts toward the MBA area of specialization in International Business and the Graduate Certificate in International Business.

Dr. España’s tour included lectures and seminars, a visit to an aircraft manufacturing plant, a Volkswagen factory, a biofuel manufacturing company, the University of Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro University and government institutions, as well as cultural sites and events such as Rio’s Sugar Loaf and Ipanema Beach.

Last year, Dr. España organized a similar class trip to the People’s Republic of China, where his students attended lectures at Beijing’s University for International Business and Economics and Shanghai University, and visited Chinese and multinational companies, such as General Motors and Invitrogen, as well as cultural sites such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City.

This year’s trip to Brazil was coordinated through the National University Division of Extended Learning. For more information on future overseas classes, contact Dr. España at jespana@nu.edu.
