National University Alumni Head 11 Percent of California's Blue Ribbon Schools

How special is a National Blue Ribbon School?

To provide a better sense of the honor, consider this: out of more than 8,100 elementary and middle schools in California, only 27 were designated as Blue Ribbon Schools this year.

Of those 27 Blue Ribbon Schools, 11 percent (three of them) are lead by principals who are National University alumni. They are as follows:

Jeremy Ward
Edison Computech Middle School
Fresno, CA

Gina Camacho-McGrath
Fletcher Elementary School
San Diego, CA

Victoria Christie
Hamlin Street Elementary School
West Hills, CA

The three alumni above deserve special distinction. The Blue Ribbon award is considered the highest honor an American school can achieve. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Education and honors public and private schools that are academically superior or demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement to high levels.

Blue Ribbon Schools are honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. and serve as models for other schools in their communities and states, as well as throughout the nation.

Blue Ribbon School principals such as Jeremy Ward, Gina Camacho-McGrath and Victoria Christie reflect favorably upon the quality of graduates and credential completers from the School of Education (SOE), and serves as a tribute to the outstanding faculty within SOE’s Department of Educational Administration.
