Student Capstone Project Wins Award

A capstone project created by students in the National University School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) was awarded 2nd prize in a competition sponsored by the Omega Rho International Honor Society at the Southwest Regional Meeting of INFORMS (The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) in Phoenix, Arizona.

Four finalist project teams participated in the competition, which took place during the last weekend in April. Each team presented its project to the professional INFORMS assembly. The winning presentation was a capstone project created by students from for the United States Air Force Academy.

The winning project/presentation was a capstone project for the Air Force Academy. The participating students were: Arthur Saldana; Daniel Hathaway; Daryl Smith; and Kyle Downing.

SOET faculty member Albert Cruz was responsible for entering the student project from the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems program at National University and accompanied the student presenter to the conference.

According to Cruz, SOET students and their projects "measured up very well" against the capstone teams and projects from other universities.
