National University Hosts Cyber Citizen Forum

Dean Evans is Keynote Speaker

Howard Evans, Ph.D., Dean of the National University School of Engineering and Technology, delivered opening remarks at the Cyber Citizen Forum on February 7.

National University hosted the event at its Technology and Health Sciences Center in San Diego, California, and was a sponsor along with ESET Internet Security and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The event included presenters from Competitive Edge Research Corporation, Cubic Corp. and the National University Cyber Security Initiative.  Attendees included Tim Fraser, Director of the National Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign, National Protection and Programs Directorate, United States Department of Homeland Security; and Bruce McConnell, Counselor to the Deputy Under Secretary for National Protection and Programs Directorate, Department of Homeland Security.

The National University School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) has been active in advancing cyber security in recent months. In 2010 it embarked upon an ambitious program to develop the first National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security-approved Natonal Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education (CAE/IAE) and CAE-Research (CAE-R) in San Diego County. 

SOET also offers a number of programs in the defense and security space fields, including a Master of Science degree in Homeland Security and Safety Engineering, multiple military programs, and a certificate in Security and Safety Engineering.
