Shape the Emerging Green Sector with a Master's Degree in Sustainability Management

With factors such as population growth, urbanization and energy use posing significant long term stress upon the environment and rapidly depleting natural resources, business and government are introducing new programs, products, services and policies that emphasize sustainability.

Vital issues of collective concern to cities, states and nations, such as air quality, water supply, hazardous waste, and the economic maintenance of fuel and food sources, are creating an emerging demand for engineers, managers, analysts and consultants who can assist in creating renewable sources of vital commodities while preserving or improving the quality of life.

To meet regional, national and global demands for such professionals, the School of Engineering and Technology has introduced a new Master of Science in Sustainability Management program. This program combines elements of engineering, business and science to explore the concepts of sustainability, processes and systems approaches across multiple disciplines. It will expose students to the leading methods and theories required to meet the most pressing sustainability challenges.

Those who pursue a Master of Science degree in Sustainability Management will also learn how principals of sustainability can stimulate technological innovation, advance competitiveness and contribute to a growing green sector in modern business and industry that promises to spur new economic growth while advancing key goals in preserving the planet.

“Our program was developed with the help of the members of the Regional Sustainability Partnership Forum in San Diego,” says Shekar Viswanathan, Ph.D, Professor and Chair of the SOET Department of Applied Engineering and Lead Faculty Member for the new Sustainability program. “As with most degree programs at National University, many of the faculty involved in this program are also practitioners in the field.”

The Sustainability Management program will be offered online, as well as in a traditional bricks-and-mortar setting. For more information, click here or contact an admissions advisor at National University by calling (800) NAT-UNIV.
