 In news regarding National University System affiliates, National University Academy Armona (NUAA), a tuition free, public charter school, has recently expanded to serve students in San Bernardino County. Sites have been opened in Big Bear City, Lake Arrowhead, San Bernardino and Ontario. NUAA has partnered with a Workforce Investment Act (WIA) funded provider, RESCARE, to offer academic options to students 18-24 years old who are WIA eligible. NUAA currently partners with RESCARE to offer similar programs in Indio, Perris and Moreno Valley.


Most recently, NUAA entered into a unique collaborative partnership with the Madera Unified School District and WIA provider “Ready, Set, Go” to offer a strong academic program for previously underserved students. The new program is located in Madera County at an adult school site and is now enrolling students 18-24 years old who wish to pursue a diploma or GED.Students can enroll at any time during the school year at all NUAA sites. Additionally, National University Academy Lakeside (NUAL) has been approved for participation in the CIF Southern Section for tennis, golf, cross country, soccer and track and field. The inaugural season begins this spring. The NUAL athletic director is currently meeting with all NUAL students to review academic requirements and rules of participation.

Regarding National University Virtual High School (NUVHS), open enrollment for the spring semester is available for more than 90 online high school courses. Course offerings include advanced placement as well as core courses and electives. A majority of courses are UC “a-g”, NCAA and/or NAIA approved. College bound high school students can improve their college application and GPA or simply take courses that their traditional school does not provide. Students are able to enroll anytime during the semester on a full or part-time basis and can complete a full semester high school course in as few as four or as many as 16 weeks.
