Fresno Student Named Miss Tuolumne County

National University Student Michaela Emerald, 18, was crowned Miss Tuolumne County at a pageant in Sonora in August..

Ms. Emerald is a 2012 graduate of Sonora High School, and currently attends National University in Fresno, where she is studying nursing.

Candidates for Miss Tuolumne County were judged by their interview skills, evening wear, themed wear and talent. The winner is awarded a scholarship and gift certificates from local businesses, and goes on to compete in the Miss California pageant.

Tuolumne County is located in the Sierra Nevada region of California and has a population of approximately 55,000. The northern half of Yosemite National Park is located in its eastern portion. The city of Sonora is its county seat.
