Alumnus to Retire as Acting Chief of Escondido Police
Alumnus Cory Moles (AA, 1994/BS, Criminal Justice, 1998) Acting Chief of the Escondido Police Department, announced in March that he will retire on July 5, after serving almost 27 years in the north San Diego County city.
In making the announcement Chief Moles noted, “I’ve had an incredible career with the Escondido Police Department. It’s been both an honor and privilege to work with so many talented individuals at the Police Department, in San Diego County law enforcement, on the city staff and in the community. It has truly been a remarkable experience!”
Moles began his career with Escondido in July 1986 as a Police Officer Trainee. Over the years he rose through the ranks, serving over nine years as captain and almost five years as Assistant Police Chief. During that time, he earned an associate’s degree in general studies and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from National University.
Moles filled in for fellow National University alumnus Jim Maher (BBA, 1988), when he retired as Chief of the Escondido Police Department last December.
