Alumnus Named to Board of San Diego Chapter of ASPE

Jeff Griffith was an award-winning construction management student

Alumnus Jeff Griffith (BS, Construction Management, 2010) was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) and was published in the Society's national journal, Estimating Today.

Mr. Griffith, who as a student won scholarships with the ASPE and the Construction Management Association of America, currently sits on three ASPE committees: Education, Certification and Standards.

“As chairman of the Education Committee, I am in an ideal position to promote estimating best practices and help students in all construction-related academic programs in San Diego,” he said.

After graduating from National University, Mr. Griffith became certified as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute and later as a Certified Professional Estimator by ASPE.

Mr. Griffith’s career path currently has three components: his service to FEMA in disaster recovery, his involvement in the legal profession as an expert witness in construction disputes and his private consulting.

In his FEMA work Mr. Griffith is a Technical Assistance Contractor with the dual title Estimator III and Project Specialist. He serves in the Public Assistance (PA) Program and works with all levels of government, from federal on down to any type of local government.

“I get called from time to time to serve as an estimator for the rebuilding of public facilities after a disaster in any of the U.S. interests, and I find helping communities recover from disasters very rewarding,” he added.

More recently Mr. Griffith began work as an expert witness in legal issues related to construction. He is listed in the FEMA expert witness directory for attorneys.

In private consulting, Mr. Griffith provides expertise in project management, scheduling, estimating, project rescue and almost anything that relates to construction.

The National University alumnus enjoys the diversity of his profession as these three interests continually take him to new challenges. Information on Mr. Griffith’s current and past activities is available on LinkedIn.
