February 4 Alumni Mixer in San Diego Launches Active Season of Events

The National University Alumni Association (NUAA) hosted its first alumni mixer of the year in San Diego on February 4 at the La Jolla Marriott.

A diverse mix of close to 40 graduates from different schools  and professions mingled in a relaxed atmosphere around a fire pit in the hotel’s outdoor patio, enjoying complimentary appetizers and easy access to the indoor/outdoor bar.

For staff and faculty, it was an opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of learning outcomes by listening to testimony from former students. There was also the chance to promote upcoming events, build awareness of the National University Career Center, and discuss professional development resources.

“Our goal with these events is to reconnect with alumni and create a sense of belonging and participation,” said Anna Tanguma, Manager of Alumni/Student Programs & Groups for National University. “The Alumni Association also wants to inform members of resources and benefits, and encourage their participation and feedback,” she added.

Newer alumni and those currently in the job market said they appreciate recently introduced resources, such as on-demand career-oriented webinars by leading experts and best-selling authors. They also valued the opportunity to interact and network with more established alumni. Some shared their experience in pursuing master’s and doctoral programs. All attendees expressed an appreciation for face-to-face interaction and encouraged continued efforts to strengthen professional and personal bonds.

NUAA Membership is free. The Association is committed to the advancement and engagement of close to 150,000 graduates and credential completers, building a strong, supportive and inclusive network that enhances and extends the value of their education and contributes to professional, personal and community success.

Our goal is to open doors and minds to the many possibilities presented by lifelong affiliation with a premier higher learning institution such as National University. Your inquiry and input are both encouraged. Please direct questions/suggestions to alumni@nu.edu.
