How We Teach

Our classes are taught by highly experienced full- and part-time faculty who are experts in their fields. In addition, most part-time faculty are practicing professionals in the areas they teach.

Our courses are four weeks long and are taught using four modes of instruction to support the different needs of our students:

  1. Traditional Classroom (often referred to as "Onsite")
    • Traditional classroom setting
    • Classrooms use the latest technology to support instruction including whiteboards, the Internet and computer equipped labs and instructor stations.
    • Classes are held on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday schedules
      • Sessions meet from 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. with a dinner break generally from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m.
      • Short breaks every 50 minutes
    • One or two half-Saturdays based on level of program
      • Graduate programs – one half Saturday the last day of class
      • Undergraduate programs – two half Saturdays (one in the middle of the session and the last day of class)
      • Occasionally, an additional Saturday may be scheduled due to university-recognized holidays
    • Classes taught at academic centers or at offsite locations
  2. Online
    • Provides the maximum flexibility for the busy student
    • 24/7/365 technical support
    • Course materials are available 24/7/365 for students
    • Incorporates the latest in instructional technology to support the different learning styles and needs of students
    • Content includes: Mini-lectures, interactive exercises, discussion threads, quizzes, tests, written assignments
  3. Hybrid
    • Combines the best of the traditional classroom setting, flexibility and technology of an online course
    • Combination of classroom and online modes of instruction
    • In general, hybrid classes have one classroom session per week and the equivalent of the second session completed using an online course shell
  4. Distance Education
    • Joining two or more academic centers or student locations together using real-time audio and video technology
    • Provides unique opportunities to learn and share experiences with students in other locations
    • Class sessions are similar to the traditional classroom (onsite) meeting days and times
