Course Description
Introduction to Communications (COM100) is a prerequisite course to further in-depth studies in communications. This course provides students with the analytic tools needed to discuss the structure and effects of electronic and print media communications historically and in terms of contemporary daily life.
An examination of the cultural, linguistic and institutional factors that shape even the most everyday communications through readings and course projects. Introduces students to semiology, rhetorical analysis and mass media theory.
