(For Licensed Vocational Nurses seeking to advance to Registered Nurse)

Requirements

Departmental Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the LVN-ASN program at National University, candidates must satisfy all of the following criteria:

  • Have completed the National University undergraduate admission process
  • Hold a current, active license to practice as a licensed vocational nurse
  • Have achieved a grade point average of 2.75 or the equivalent in the nursing portion of the LVN program
  • Submit the appropriate nursing program application
  • Complete the ACCUPLACER math and english tests
  • Submit a written statement of professional and educational goals to the Department of Nursing

Requirements for the Degree
To receive an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN), students must complete at least 106.5 quarter units as outlined below, 31.5 quarter units of which must be completed in residence at National University. The following courses are specific degree requirements.

In the absence of transfer credit, students may take additional general electives to satisfy the total units required for the degree. Students exiting after completing the courses required for licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing (as designated below) without completing at least 106.5 quarter units (at National University or through credit transfer) will not be granted the A.S.N. degree.
